Maternity picture- #2

DSC_2368

This was QUITE a position for me, being 8 months pregnant, to get into, but was SO worth it! :) I love how the background is grey and brown and the green just pops out! This was taken at a waterfall in Dupont State Forest.  There is a cute picture of Caleb walking along with us with his hands in his pockets below!

Maternity photo~ 31 weeks!

DSC_1737

A couple of Fridays ago, my amazingly talented friend, Helen Joy George, took some maternity photos of me.  I had never had this done before…this kind of photo shoot was totally different from the kind that you have done in JC Penney’s where you sit on a table/chair and they pull down different backgrounds while they snapped posed pictures.  Helen Joy was very good at guiding me and telling me where to look, hand placement, etc.  I would HIGHLY recommend her to anybody! There are more pictures coming, which I’ll post when I get them, but for now, I just thought I’d post this one that she sent me! Enjoy!

SNOW DAY!

IMG_2991

Caleb’s ready to go! I bundled him up in a onesie, turtleneck, long sleeve shirt, scarf, jacket, fleece hat, socks, shoes and gloves. Have you ever tried to put gloves on a toddler? It’s like trying to put a giraffe in a highchair. We managed though and he loved them! I told him we’d go outside and make a snowman, so I grabbed a carrot from the fridge and he proudly carried it outside!

Here he is all bundled up outside! He loved scooping up the snow! IMG_2993

Our home covered in snow! And this was taken around 11:30am! It now has about 8” on it (Here, there was only about 3” of snow). If you look carefully at the bottom of our next picture, you will see an Impressionist-style snowman. I had envisioned Caleb and I (Emily) building a 5-foot snowman, complete with hat, scarf, and a carrot nose. However, I could not get down on the ground to roll any giant snowballs, so we settled for a 12” snowman blob that Caleb promptly stuck his carrot in. It looked like we had crowned Mt. Everest! After Caleb took a three hour nap, he got to snuggle and read with Daddy on the couch. I snapped this cute picture of them!

This picture was taken about 6pm…we have about 8” of snow! I can’t wait to go out and play in it tomorrow!

MY HUSBAND IS AN OFFICIAL MOUNTAIN MAN!! He went out to get the mail and shovel the snow away from the front door. He said that he’d never seen snow that deep before! I haven’t seen it that deep in a LONG time. IMG_3013

An afternoon of painting…

I am so glad that I have a little boy who enjoys arts and crafts. (Naive, as I am, I thought I’d only get that by having a girl).  This afternoon, after he woke up from his nap, we hauled out the watercolors (you know, the cheap kit you can get with about 12 colors and a plastic paintbrush), put down some protective gear on the floor, printed out some Christmas coloring pages (and brought down plenty of blank paper), and stripped Caleb down to his diaper.IMG_2971 Here we are getting set up…if anybody needs or wants some free printable Christmas coloring (or painting) sheets, you can click here to get them.  IMG_2972Say “cheese”, Caleb! :) Such a ham! IMG_2976We had a spectator for most of the time…this is Josie, our kitty of almost 5 years.  This is a face we see often…it is like her tongue was created too large for her mouth. :)  She’s very sweet though! IMG_2978This is something that impressed me…Caleb asked me to draw him a “T”…so I did, in blue on the right side of the paper.  I then asked him if he could draw a “T” too, and he did! In two deliberate strokes, he drew his “T” in a greenish-blackish color on the left side of the paper. Can you see it?  I was so proud of him! :)  Pretty good for a two year old! IMG_2979

Hee hee…this is after about an hour of painting.  Notice the 2 dozen sheets of paper, plus a very dirty boy.  It was totally worth it as I had a whole hour with no whining, no punishing, and no defiance. :)

New tummy pics- 25 weeks!

IMG_2949 Hi everyone! Sorry I've not updated in awhile...life with a toddler has a pace of its own! I'm about 25 weeks pregnant...and have about three and a half months to go! However, I already feel like I'm about to pop...here are some pics to prove it! I asked Eric to take pictures of me since I actually had makeup on (and a decent outfit!). I’m carrying Adam the same way that I carried Caleb!

IMG_2951

Here I am from another angle! Adam right now is measuring about a week ahead, but that could mean that 1) he will come early, 2) he’s gonna be a big baby like his brother, or 3) my due date was miscalculated. Either way, they doctors are keeping an eye on him! My blood pressure is doing great, and so far, gestational diabetes has not reared its head. I’ll be tested for that in about 6 weeks.

IMG_2954

Aclose up of the huge belly! Looks like I have a beachball in there!! Adam is mildly active, especially after meals! He’s got a strong kick, but so far, he’s stayed away from my ribs! We are putting the finishing touches on the nursery! The good thing is about having another boy is that I can reuse all of Caleb’s clothes. I’m looking forward to meeting this little fella in the early spring!

"I'm a cowboy...on a steel horse I ride..."

Well, Halloween this year was pretty drizzly and wet, to say the least. I wasn't sure exactly how much candy I wanted my two year old to ingest, so we opted not to go trick or treating. Instead, we met my mom, dad, and brother at the Hendersonville Taco Bell, where they gave away free Black Jack tacos. We all ate dinner, then came back to our house to play our new Wii.
Caleb borrowed his cool cowboy hat from Jack Womack (friend from church). So that, paired with some worn overalls and a polo, made a very cute outfit! Thanks, Kate, for letting us borrow your son's hat! The whole outfit is below!

He has a name!

Baby boy #2 finally has a name...Eric and I promised each other (and all others who were asking!) that we would come up with a name for our next baby boy by the time we left Townsend, TN. And he shall be called....

...drumroll please.....

Adam Connor Freeman

We both really liked the name Adam (which means "first" or "original") and Connor was a suggestion from Aunt Angela and Eric's Aunt Susie. Connor means "brilliant", so you can't go wrong there! Hope you like it!

Make a Guess!

I'm officially opening the contest: write/tell me your prediction on whether this baby is a boy or girl, its birthdate (it is supposedly due on Feb.13th), its height and weight. The person who comes closest in all four categories, gets a prize! Also, the closest person in each of those categories also gets a prize (except the boy/girl category- you have a 50/50 chance there!)! I'll keep track of them on a spread sheet, and after the baby comes, we'll see who wins! :) (Even if you aren't local, I'll mail you your prize!)

Movin’ right along…

I remember not taking too many belly pics last pregnancy, so I decided to do more this time around.  Here I am at six weeks along June 19th…already showing! Crazy!

6-19 And…here’s two weeks later, July 10th, when I’m around 8 weeks along! (Yes, I’m wearing the same shirt—it’s comfy!)

7-10

And…then I forgot to take pictures! A few weeks went by and then I popped out even more! I took this yesterday- I’m around 15 weeks along! Should find out the gender of the baby by the end of next month! Any guesses??

Pucker Up!

Aunt Angela has always had this great ability to entertain Caleb with her "fishy face". He has now figured out how to replicate it...AND I finally got it on film!

Believe it or not…

Caleb is now in a big boy bed! This afternoon, once he got up from what was supposed to be his long nap, Eric and I disassembled his crib (somewhat bittersweet), moved it into the future nursery, reassembled it, then moved a full size mattress and box springs to his room. We put the box springs directly on the floor so he wouldn’t be that far off the ground. We then covered the mattress with Handy Manny sheets (thanks Mimi, Grandpa and Aunt Angela!) and a Handy Manny comforter (thanks Mom, Dad, Nana and Grandad!). We read a story, then sang a song and laid him down.

Here’s Daddy and Caleb about to read a Bible Story from the Jesus Storybook Bible- the BEST!IMG_2594

Here’s Caleb about to go night night in his new bed! Mr. Whale is in the foreground, with Tigger and Handy Manny in the background.

IMG_2595

We mounted a camera monitor on the wall across from the bed so we could see what he did. We have a baby gate across his bedroom door frame, so even if he opened his bedroom door, he could not escape. Well, sure enough, within two minutes, he sat up, looked around, and promptly got out of bed and walked to the door. After about five minutes of trying to escape (quietly, though), Eric went up, gently put him back into bed, explained he needed to stay put, kissed him goodnight, gave him Mr. Whale, and closed the door, for the second time. Guess what? That’s all it took! We never saw him move after that! Crazy! Now, I’m not assuming that each night will be as easy as tonight, but at least, the first night went okay! Now, we’ll see what time he gets up!

Meet the Chickens

So, as of last Friday, Eric and I became proud owners of four chickens. We are actually now down to two as two escaped through a narrow gap in the coop (that has now been fixed). The original four were named Miss Pot Pie, Miss Parmesan, Miss a La King, and Miss Rotisserie (only Miss Pot Pie and Miss a La King remain sadly). Although they are named after yummy chicken dishes, they will not be eating chickens. Right now, they are about 2 months old, and will probably start laying late fall/early winter. Apparently, they like to eat scraps from the kitchen. They are pretty easy to take care of, and Caleb loves them!

Caleb's reaction!

July 4th Weekend!

So, for the Fourth of July, Eric, Caleb and I all went down to Beaufort, SC, to visit with Eric’s parents and sister.  We had a blast!!  Caleb had a lot of new experiences down there, so I tried to capture them on camera for you.

Here’s Caleb and Grandpa Wayne playing with duck calls!  Watch how Caleb “hops” when he “quacks”!

Playing inside his playhouse…peek a boo!

He got just a LITTLE dirty in the garden!  He loved playing in the dirt, then wading in the puddles…so everyone knows that DIRT + WATER=….MUD!!

Caleb discovered a love for corn on the cob.  He ate a total of 1 1/2 ears of corn (3 half ears!).  And…we didn’t even have to cut it off for him!

Edisto Trip- May 16-23!

So, each year, my (Emily) family takes a week long beach trip all together.  Meaning, Eric, me, Caleb, Mom, Dad, Bennett, Nana and Grandad.  We always have a blast!  Here are some pictures from this year’s trip! (Grab a snack, it’s a long one)

Here we are, all packed up, about to head out on a four and a half hour trip!

All in all, we had a blast.  Sorry it took so long to post a blog on our trip, but I had so many pictures to go through, and couldn’t decide which ones to use.  Next year, we’re looking at going to Tybee Island for a change! :)
